Fiat 500 – For drivers with a zest for life

The Fiat 500 is one of the smallest cars currently available from a major vehicle manufacturer in South Africa. However, while it is extremely compact, it’s impressive how much power the Fiat 500 has. Effective at zipping along city streets, this new Fiat is ideal for running errands or commuting to and from work. Don’t let the 500’s size fool you, however, as it contains a surprising number of luxury features and is versatile in appearance, with several colour combinations from which to choose.

The Fiat 500 has a long history as it was first manufactured in 1957, and production ran until approximately 1975. The model went through a variety of facelifts until it was discontinued. But now its back, updated and ready to hit the road. Playful and uniquely styled, the new 500 is the perfect choice for drivers with a zest for life.

With its curved lines and bubble-shaped exterior, the new Fiat 500 is easily identifiable. You can choose from a wide selection of bright or muted colours, including Mod Blue, Calypso Orange, Tropicalia Yellow and Cha Cha Cha Azure, giving you the option of tailoring your Fiat 500 to your personal colour palette.

Two doors give the driver and one passenger access into the vehicle, while luggage can be loaded using a hatch at the rear of the vehicle. In the cabin there are several luxury features that increase driving pleasure. These Fiat 500 interior features include a trip computer, adjustable steering wheel, rear seat, cigarette lighter and air-conditioning.

The Fiat 500 car is available in a choice of two engine types:

·      1.2 MPi – This engine type is able to produce up to 51kW of power at 5 500 revs per minute and 102Nm of torque at 3 000 revs per minute. Furthermore, it can reach a top speed of approximately 160 kilometres per hour and can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 12.9 seconds.

·      1.4 16V – The 1.4 16V engine is capable of producing 73.5kW of power at 6 000 revs per minute and 131Nm of torque at 4 250 revs per minute. With an acceleration rate of 10.5 seconds (to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometres per hour), this engine can attain a top speed of approximately 182 kilometres per hour.

Another reason that people choose to buy Fiat 500 cars is because of their impressive safety features. The Fiat 500 price includes safety features such as ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), daytime running lights, hazard light activation in panic braking and Isofix attachments for child seats.

People who live in a bustling city will likely know how difficult it can be to navigate heavy traffic in a large car. The Fiat 500 is small and zippy, giving city drivers the ability to find parking almost anywhere and manoeuvre through traffic easily. For this reason, Fiat sales have remained consistently high since the reintroduction of the 500 in 2007.
